General Forestry

New plantations on high rainfall sites such as the Pacific Northwest Coast and several tropical areas are subject to fast-growing undesirable vegetative competition.

Forest Paks provide a safe and readily available complete package of plant nutrients required to re-generate roots of nursery cultured seedlings. 

Forestry Blend contains polymer coated forms of these soluble nutrients that assures a continuous supply available to enhance root development.

Hydration Pak 16-8-5 plus Water Storing Polymers

With water storing polymers, the Hydration Pak can reduce the effect on moisture deficiency. This modern technology acts as a sponge, absorbing moisture and releasing the molecules back into the soil.

Used in general forest regeneration applications, Gilbert Smith Paks provide a safe and readily available and complete package of plant nutrients required for superior root and foliar production that will allow a seedling to quickly capture a site.

Advanced polymer technology and RTI's proprietary formulation/delivery systems are defining a Second Generation of "Fertilization at Planting" products.

Reclamation & Conifer Transplants

15-5-5-6-(S) with Biochar

Combination of controlled release nutrients and biological materials that attract and hold nutrients. Biochar is a natural soil enhancer, that can virtually improve nutrient-poor soils and those of low rainfall.

Developed for use in replanting decommissioned logging roads but also used successfully in mining reclamation.

Deciduous Transplants

Hardwood trees and shrubs have the ability to grow much faster than conifers. Booster Paks were formulated in a 30-gram biodegradable format based on a research collaboration between the RTI and the USFS "Below Ground" research team at the USFS Research Station, Athens, GA.

The formulation was designed to be low in nitrogen, high in phosphorous, and to include both cobalt and molybdenum which increases the activity of the "Frankia" bacteria when present in the soil.

Native Seed Plant Regeneration

AM 120 Mycorrhizal Inoculum works together with a plant’s root system extending it throughout the surrounding soil area and significantly improving water and nutrient absorption while reducing the need and frequency of applying outside fertilizers.

RTI’s Delayed-Release technology was developed to provide the best source of balanced plant nutrients on reclaimed sites with poor soils, especially during the critical first growing season.
