AM 120 Mycorrhizal Inoculum

AM 120 Mycorrhizal Inoculum works together with a plant’s root system extending it throughout the surrounding soil area and significantly improving water and nutrient absorption while reducing the need and frequency of applying outside fertilizers. AM 120 helps plants establish strong healthy root systems quicker than non-inoculated seeds. By extending the reach and efficiency of the host plants root systems mycorrhiza, greatly enhance the plant's ability to survive and even flourish in dry conditions and in nutrient-poor soils including sites with a low pH or a different chemical composition.

Mycorrhizal fungi form associations with 90% of plants and can adapt to different biological, geological, and climatic conditions. In addition, it produces miles of hyphae throughout the soil to transport moisture and nutrients back to their host and supply them with their primary food source of carbohydrates. Both spores and hyphae are capable of colonizing a host plant once they have made contact with the plant’s roots. Therefore fragments that contain spores or hyphae are considered propagules or inoculating agents. It is estimated that the amount of carbon filtered from the atmosphere is increased by over 40% or more.

AM 120 is the proven standard for Mycorrhizal Inoculants in Restoration and Mine Reclamation and is now available in blended Regional Suites. In addition to our original Rhizophagus intraradices isolate (UT), we are now able to offer more specific suites for a range of ecotype and geographic locations. All of RTI’s species and isolates have been selected for growth response or health improvement of a wide range of host plants. AM 120 Regional Suites provide an extra dimension of biology.

  • AM 120 Standard, 100% Rhizophagus Intraradices (UT isolate) 300 propagules per gram. Positive results over a wide range of climatic and ecosystem applications from Northern Canada to Costa Rica and the Swiss Alps.

  • AM 120 Desert Suite, 50% Rhizophagus Intraradices (UT), 25 % Rhizophagus Deserticola (CA, Mojave), 25% Rhizophagus Intraradices (AZ). Two desert isolates that develop prolific amounts of mycorrhizal hyphae improving access to soil moisture and increasing drought tolerance.

  • AM 120 Basin & High Plains Suite, 50% Rhizophagus Intraradices (UT), 25% Rhizophagus Intraradices (AZ), 25% Rhizophagus Etunicatum (NE). All of these isolates are from in and around the Great Basin and adjacent plains region. A diverse group of inoculants suitable for a wide range of grasses, forbs, and woody plants common to the ecosystems of the area.

  • Species blends are available upon request. Please contact for the current list of mycorrhizal species.

This site along the Big Sur coast, CA was planted without Mycorrhizal Inoculant; but hydro-seeded and fertilized in 1997.

This is approximately 2 kilometers south of the adjacent photo and was seeded and treated with AM 120 Mycorrhizal Innoculant in 2000. Both photos taken in spring of 2002.
