Plant Hole Placement (PHP)
Planting Instructions

Planter-Paks are designed to be placed in the same planting hole as the seedling.

However, accurate positioning of the Planter-Pak is still very important.

Distance

Approximately 0.5” away from the seedling plug. The Planter-Pak should be perpendicular to the plug and at most barely touch it at the edge once the hole is closed. Keep in mind the roots will not grow where the Planter-Pak touches the plug.

Depth

Approximately 1-2” below the soil surface. On dry sites, the Planter-Pak needs to be placed slightly lower, between 2-3”, to ensure there is adequate soil moisture available.

PLEASE FOLLOW DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY TO AVOID ANY DAMAGE TO THE SEEDLING. FAILURE TO REVIEW INSTRUCTIONS CAN LEAD TO SEEDLING DAMAGE AND IN EXTREME CASES, MORTALITY.
Backfill

Once the Planter-Pak is placed in the correct position, carefully backfill and cover the planting hole, but DO NOT pack the soil.

Soil Temperature

The rate of release is determined by soil temperature. Placing the Planter-Pak too deep into cool soil temperatures will delay the activation of the nutrient coating, inhibiting release. Furthermore, placing the Planter-Pak too shallow may expose the contents to warmer temperatures that cause them to dry out before nutrients are released.

Soil Moisture

Soil moisture is required to activate the nutrient release. Therefore, soil conditions should ideally be moist-to-wet at the time of planting. Planting in dry soils is not ideal as they do not provide adequate moisture for the release of nutrients.
