Xtreme Gardening is RTI's consumer-facing brand, bringing the company's professional-grade mycorrhizal fungi and biological inoculants to the hydroponic, hobby gardening, and indoor growing markets. Where RTI's other brands speak to forestry agencies and commercial landscapers, Xtreme Gardening is built for the grower who wants to push their plants to peak performance — whether that's in a backyard raised bed, a greenhouse, or a high-output hydroponic setup. Proudly cultivated and packaged in California, the brand distributes its products through a network of over 500 garden supply dealers worldwide, giving it a genuinely global retail footprint.

The core of the product line is the MYKOS and AZOS duo — the same biological workhorses found across RTI's other brands, reformatted for the home and specialty grower. MYKOS delivers pure mycorrhizal fungi in granular and wettable powder forms, as well as convenient Root Paks for transplanting, while AZOS provides nitrogen-fixing bacteria to support vigorous root development and robust early growth. Beyond those flagships, the lineup extends into Xtreme Tea, a microbial brew concentrate designed to amplify soil biology; CalCarb, a calcium and carbon supplement; Versity, a multi-strain Bacillus blend for added disease suppression and root health; and AZOS Red Liquid, a liquid inoculant suited to fertigation applications.

Giant pumpkin growing isn't just a hobby — it's a sport, and Xtreme Gardening has been at the heart of it since day one. Our story actually begins with a giant pumpkin grower who started using our MYKOS mycorrhizae back in 2006 and broke the world record that very year, weighing in at 1,502 pounds. That result wasn't a coincidence — it was proof that putting the right biology in the soil changes everything.

What followed was a record-breaking legacy that spans nearly two decades. MYKOS and AZOS have together contributed to over seven world records for giant plant growth, including a landmark 2,000-pound pumpkin in 2012 that stunned the competitive growing world. AZOS alone has been part of nine world record-breaking grows, including a 2,230.5-pound pumpkin in 2015. These aren't marketing claims — they're weigh-off results, witnessed by crowds and verified by competition officials.

Our most decorated grower partner in recent years is Travis Gienger of Minnesota, who has made record-breaking look almost routine. In 2022, Travis set the US record with a 2,560-pound pumpkin, running a full Xtreme Gardening program including MYKOS, AZOS, VERSITY Bacillus Blend, and CALCARB. He followed that up in 2023 by growing a 2,749-pound Atlantic Giant — a new world record — citing soil biology as the cornerstone of his winning formula. Three consecutive US records.
